BROOKLYN

Since 2008, StoneBridge has enjoyed a rewarding partnership with Resurrection Brooklyn, which seeks to plant 25 churches in the next 20 years, in one of the most diverse population centers in the world.

StoneBridge is currently involved in providing a portion of the support for two Resurrection Brooklyn church planting interns. Since the beginning of the internship program, Resurrection Brooklyn has had numerous interns move into full time ordained ministry.

From late 2012 to 2016, StoneBridge sent numerous volunteer teams to help with relief efforts in the wake of Super Storm Sandy. From Resurrection Brooklyn’s commitment to these relief efforts sprang a new congregation in the hard-hit Sheepshead Bay neighborhood. StoneBridge had the privilege of providing the financial support needed to start this work, and sent volunteer teams in the summers of 2017 and 2018 to help lead summer camps for needy children.

Starting in 2019, our summer team began partnering with Resurrection Park Slope and Zion Presbyterian Church in Bay Ridge, to host vacation Bible school for neighborhood children.

HISTORY

Resurrection Brooklyn was formed in 2004 when Matt Brown and his family moved to Brooklyn to plant Resurrection Park Slope. The goal from the beginning has been to plant not just one church but to begin a network of churches throughout Brooklyn that will celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ and serve their neighborhoods. 2005 marked the beginning of this network as Resurrection Williamsburg, led by church planter Vito Aiuto, began worship in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The next church to open its doors was Resurrection Clinton Hill, which church planter Jamison Galt launched in 2011. Sheepshead Bay followed in 2015, along with Brooklyn Heights in 2016.

CHURCH PLANTING

With a population of 2.5 million people in more than 80 distinct neighborhoods the need for churches that reflect the uniqueness and diversity of the neighborhoods is apparent. Resurrection Brooklyn church plants will possess a "theology of place" and will reflect the unique diversity of their neighborhoods.
